Summary
The following steps detail how to attach a curtain pole:
1 Marking the reference line
2 Measuring the bracket plate
3 Attaching the brackets
4 Fixing the pole in position
Tools
Blade, measure, screwdriver, drill, spirit level, bradawl.
Materials
Pole kit, screws, wall plugs
Step 1 - Marking the reference line
Measure 50mm up from the window. Use a spirit level to
mark a line horizontally from this point. This is the
line which will align with the centre of the pole.
Step 2 - Measuring the bracket plate
Hold the pole in the desired position against the window
and mark 100mm in from each end. Look at the mounting
plate on the bracket that will hold the pole; it is
usually off-centre. Examine the plate and measure the
distance by which it is off-centre and mark this
distance on the wall above your line.
Step 3 - Attaching the brackets
Fix the screw into the wall, leaving it protruding
slightly for the plate to hook on to. Fit the bracket
in place.
Step 4 - Fixing the pole in position
Position the pole leaving one ring outside the bracket
on either side. Some poles will have space for a
retaining screw which fixes the pole in place from
below the bracket.
